Walgreens has an active disAbility Alliance Business Resource Group (dA) that partners with diversity and inclusion in building a culture of inclusion for employees with disabilities. The dA has implemented disability-focused member networking events for which it invites members to share stories of their experiences with disabilities, either as a caregiver/parent/spouse, or as a person with a disability. This helps Walgreens to create a community on campus where their employees feel and are learning from each other. The dA also brings in external speakers to discuss living with a disability, accommodations and disability inclusion. In their distribution centers a disability is typically highlighted each month in the monitors with screens providing information on the disability, they also run “sign of the day”, which gives one basic ASL sign language sign to all team members, rotating the information on the monitors in the break rooms.
