Career Connection events bring together experienced professionals with disabilities with corporations seeking to #RecruitDisabilityTalent

Focus:   Disability:IN Inclusion Works Companies are seeking early career and experienced candidates with disabilities in STEM, Finance, Business, Customer Service and Sales. Early career and experienced candidates are encouraged to participate.

What’s considered a Disability? How do I know if I qualify?

Companies participating in Disability:IN Inclusion Works are committed to finding, growing and keeping talented individuals with disabilities. As part of this effort, Disability:IN Inclusion Works will be hosting two Career Connection events.

The Career Connections events are professional networking receptions and provides an opportunity for experienced talent with disabilities to connect with Fortune/Global 500 corporations who have a demonstrated interest and understand the value of this diverse talent pool. With experienced candidates connecting directly with inclusive employers, there is an increased opportunity to receive an invitation to interview and join the employer’s talent pipeline.

The participating companies are specifically seeking talent who identify as living with a disability and interested in careers in Science, Technology, Engineering, Math, Finance, Business, Customer Service and Sales. Here is a sample of jobs these companies are seeking candidates for:

The Career Connections events are professional networking receptions; it will provide an opportunity for experienced talent with disabilities to get in front of Fortune/Global 500 companies who have a demonstrated interest and understand the value of this diverse talent pool.

The event will allow employers to share with this talent pool their full-time employment opportunities in a personal and targeted setting.

The purpose is to connect employers with “experienced” talent with disabilities and provide talented individuals with disabilities the opportunity to receive an invitation to interview and  join the employer’s talent pipeline.

The participating companies are specifically seeking talent who identify as living with a disability and interested in careers in Science, Technology, Engineering, Math, Finance, Business, Customer Service and Sales. Here is a sample of jobs these companies are seeking candidates for:

How do I know if I have a disability?2020-02-11T16:46:37-05:00

You are considered to have a disability if you have a physical or mental impairment or medical condition that:

  • substantially limits a major life activity, or
  • a history or record of such an impairment or medical condition.

For example, if you had cancer and it is in remission, you are still considered an individual with a disability since if the cancer returned, it would substantially limit major life activities. The same is true of conditions that are controlled by medication, for example, chronic migraines or learning and attention issues. Other examples – this is not an exhaustive list – of disabilities are:

  • Blindness
  • Deafness

  • Autism
  • Cerebral palsy
  • HIV/AIDS
