As 2021 draws to a close, the time is right to reflect on all that we have accomplished together even as we continue to navigate through a global pandemic and an ever-changing workforce. Above it all, it has brought to light the importance of connecting with, supporting, and building up others for the collective advancement of society.
Our ability to build an inclusive global economy where people with disabilities participate fully and meaningfully is not possible without you and the thousands of other leaders who have joined IN.
Indeed, there is much for which we can collectively be proud.
- CEOs going ‘all IN’ for Disability Inclusion: Through the CEO Letter on Disability Inclusion, CEOs are urging peers to participate in the Disability Equality Index (DEI) has reached 96 signatories.
- Investors requesting Portfolio Companies to advance ESG with Disability Inclusion: Through our Joint Investor Statement on Disability Inclusion, in partnership with the American Association of People with Disabilities, the ESG conversation is advancing to include disability inclusion.
- Expanding our Global Reach: We’ve increased participation and engagement across the board – Global DEI pilot corporate participation, Regional Council members in APAC, EMEA and LATAM and Inclusion Works participating companies.
- Calling on Nasdaq and SEC to include Disability in Corporate Board Diversity Requirements: While Nasdaq neglected to add disability to its definition in a new ruling designed to increase boardroom diversity, our advocacy, position, and efforts have illuminated the need for change at the corporate board level. We continue conversations with the Securities and Exchange Commission as well.
- Leveraging Data from the Disability Equality Index (DEI) to drive Impact: Through robust insights from the DEI, our team helps corporations advance disability inclusion, whether it be through disability hires in Inclusion Works, expanding supplier diversity with disability-owned businesses, or boosting NextGen Leader talent development.
- Being Recognized as a “Brand that Matters” along with other awards: We were named to Fast Company’s first annual “Brands that Matter” list.
Together, we are elevating that disability inclusion has been ‘the missing piece’ and the ultimate lever for innovation and sustainability. We’re grateful to be on this mission with you and we look forward to working together in 2022 to expand our impact.
