Behind the Screen: Celebrating Mental Health Awareness Month in the Workplace
Each year, the month of May is Mental Health Awareness Month in the United States. This month provides awareness of various mental health challenges facing workers across corporate America.
According to Accenture, mental health affects 90% of employees. Just 33% of people, however, self-identify as having mental health challenges at work for fear of negative repercussions (MHFA). This is due to the inherent societal stigma surrounding the topic of mental health. The 2022 Disability Equality Index Report states that 96% of respondents now offer their employees more flexible work environments and 84% now offer additional wellness benefits. This data shows promising evidence of actions that companies can take to build an empathetic and inclusive workplace.
