Description: Kody Olson will discuss the impact of Minnesota’s COVID-19 policies and response on disability issues. He will discuss Executive Orders from Governor Walz, legislation from the Minnesota Legislature and their impact on the disability community during the peacetime emergency, as well as inclusive emergency management strategies that Minnesota has adopted long before COVID-19.

Presenter: Kody Olson is the Public Policy Director for the Minnesota Council on Disability. He has also been serving as the Access and Functional Needs Advisor for the State Emergency Operations Center in its response to COVID-19. Kody is a graduate of Iowa State University and a dual-masters student at the University of Minnesota studying public policy and public health. Kody is Deaf and is passionate about affecting public policy to strengthen and support our disability community.

About Minnesota Council on Disability: Established in 1973 by the State Legislature, the Minnesota Council on Disability (MCD) was created to advise the Governor, state agencies, State Legislature, and the public on disability issues. The mission of MCD is to advocate for policies and programs in the public and private sectors that advance the rights of Minnesotans with disabilities. To accomplish that mission, MCD concentrates on policy, training and being the State of Minnesota’s premiere disability-related technical resource.

Cost:

  • Members: Free (for member companies and their employees)
  • Non-members: $20 per person
