Bio

Preeya Mody is a Data Scientist at 84.51°, a retail data science, insights, and media company. Preeya has earned her Bachelor’s of Mathematics and Bachelor’s of Statistics from the University of Florida in May 2018 as well as her Master of Statistics from Carnegie Mellon University in May 2020. Given her interest in Statistics and Data Science, she has held several internship positions in a variety of industries including Duke Clinical Research Institute, SAS, United States Postal Service, Chewy.com, and 84.51°. She enjoys experimenting with data to derive predictive insights and she loves the thrill of discovery when asking questions about why people behave in a certain way and then answering those questions with data.

In addition to her passion for data science, Preeya also has a passion for disability advocacy and awareness. While at the University of Florida, she was involved with Student Government where she served as the Disability Affairs Cabinet Director. Through this position, she organized events for the 50,000-student population focused around spreading disability awareness to make the campus more inclusive for people of all identities. Additionally, Preeya established a student council that works to promote accessibility, inclusivity, and empowerment of disability identity through student-led education and outreach efforts. Also, she contributed in changing the vision of the University from not only focusing on students’ educational accommodations but also working to make the campus a more inclusive and accessible community.

Preeya has been actively involved in Rising Leaders programs and activities since she was selected as a mentee in 2017. In her spare time, she enjoys playing chess, watching movies, reading books, learning about new technologies, and catching up with her friends and family. Preeya is excited to continue her involvement with Disability:IN and is looking forward to connecting and learning from the Disability:IN community.
