Disability:IN Minnesota is an affiliate of Disability:IN and a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that promotes best employment practices and enhances competitive employment opportunities for skilled candidates with disabilities. As a Disability:IN affiliate, the organization offers business members resources for recruiting candidates with disabilities, information on disability issues/topics, recognition for best disability employment practices, and exposure to an untapped market for goods and services.
Throughout the year, Disability:IN Minnesota runs two programs. In the fall, Disability:IN Minnesota holds an INclusive Career Fair that draws in hundreds of attendees–employers, volunteers, and job-seekers with disabilities.
Disability:IN Minnesota runs its Career Connections Mentoring Program at the beginning of each year. The organization is actively seeking mentors from Minnesota-based businesses. This year, applications are being accepted through Friday, January 24th. The Career Connections Mentoring Program is a 3-month mentoring experience connecting employers/professionals to:
• College/university students with disabilities
• Recent graduates with disabilities or
• Individuals with disabilities who have completed a specialized training/certification program
The mentoring program offers one-on-one relationships that will allow both mentors and mentees to share their insights, perspectives and experiences related to disability inclusion in the workplace. This results in a supportive mutually-beneficial relationship that provides the mentor with an enhanced knowledge of disability inclusion while driving career development and employment opportunities for the mentee.
