What is DOBE® Certification?

Disability:IN provides third-party certification that validates eligible businesses as disability-owned. Once certified, DOBEs can connect with Disability:IN’s network of companies, fellow entrepreneurs, business development programs and supplier opportunities.

You may be eligible for DOBE® Certification if your business meets these core criteria:

51% Disability Owned

At least 51% owned, operated, managed and controlled by one or more people with disabilities.

For Profit

Operates as a for-profit business and meets Disability:IN’s certification requirements.

What is a Disability-Owned Business Enterprise (DOBE®)?

A Disability-Owned Business Enterprise (DOBE®) is a for-profit business that is at least 51% owned, operated, managed, and controlled by a person with a disability. Disability:IN certifies DOBEs, V-DOBEs®, and SDV-DOBEs® to help businesses gain recognition and access opportunities within the global business community. Certification gives eligible businesses a recognized credential and connects them to Disability:IN’s network of companies, entrepreneurs and business development opportunities.

How much does certification cost? 

There application fee for DOBE certification is $300 USD. The certification is valid for 3 years.

Can I obtain a DOBE Certification if I already hold another business certification? 

Yes. DOBE® certification can be combined with other business certifications. Depending on the certification you already hold, you may also be eligible for a streamlined review process.

  • NaVOBA-certified firms can opt in to the Disability:IN Supplier Inclusion Program as an SDV-DOBE. Renewals are handled through NaVOBA, which sends updated details directly to Disability:IN.
  • NGLCC and WEBENC certified firms can apply for DOBE certification via the Disability:IN Certification Hub. Determinations typically take 30 days and require a current certification.
  • SBA Vet certified firms can apply for SDV-DOBE certification through the Disability:IN Certification Hub. Required documents include your DD214, Disability Ratings Letter, SBA VET Certified Letter, and standard business documentation.
