About Corey Axelrod of 2axend
Why did you become an entrepreneur?
As a Deaf individual, I have directly experienced and observed the various systemic barriers that disparately impact members of my community. I started 2axend because there was a clear opportunity to leverage firsthand experiences and combine this with niche expertise in accessibility planning, inclusive organizational design, risk management, organizational compliance, and much more to support organizations with their efforts to be inclusive of and accessible to Deaf and hard of hearing individuals. Our work is personal to me – essentially, my team and I are the recipients of the experiences we help clients deliver to our community.
How has being a certified DOBE helped your company grow and achieve success?
After attending the 2019 Disability:IN Conference in Chicago, I knew I was missing out as 2axend was not yet certified as a DOBE. However, at the time, I truly did not know what I was missing out on.
Since 2axend was certified in the fall of 2019, I’ve been privileged to participate in Disability:IN’s mentoring program and Tuck’s Executive Education program at Dartmouth (Disability:IN sponsored my tuition) amongst other wonderful learning opportunities. Disability:IN has also provided 2axend with increased visibility and structured opportunities to interface with a variety of corporate representatives via matchmaking sessions and webinars. Collectively, these opportunities have accelerated our organization’s growth and impact in supporting organizations with their efforts to be inclusive of and accessible to Deaf and hard of hearing individuals.
