USBLN in Inc. Magazine: Why More Tech Companies Should Hire People With Disabilities

While people with disabilities still remain largely underrepresented in the work place, especially in technology, companies are starting to see the importance of disability inclusion. A recent article published in Inc. Magazine cites encouraging data that suggests corporate attitudes are shifting.

As many as 57 million Americans are living with a disability, and corporations are starting to realize the success of their business depends on hiring people who can relate to, and understand their customers. The 2017 list of the “Best Places to Work for Disability Inclusion” was recently released. The list, a joint effort between the Disability:IN and the American Association of People with Disabilities, shows a 32% increase in participation. The increase is a clear indication that companies are seeing the benefits of disability inclusion; however, many of the biggest tech companies are missing from the list.

The full Inc. Magazine article can be accessed here, and more information about the “Best Places to Work for Disability Inclusion,” based on the USBLN Disability Equality Index, can be found on the Disability:IN Disability Equality Index webpage.
