Exploring Global Disability Employment Strategies

Disability:IN Global Disability Employment Summit

Produced jointly by the U.S. Business Leadership Network (USBLN) and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, the Global Disability Employment Summit will bring together global businesses to discuss the importance of disability inclusion in their workforce, marketplace and supply chain.

The summit will be held on July 27th, at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce in Washington D.C. Companies present will share best practices, and collaborate on ways to promote accessibility, supplier diversity and government regulations related to hiring people with disabilities outside the U.S.

The morning will kick off with a networking breakfast. Tom Donohue, President and CEO of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, Jill Houghton, President and CEO of the USBLN, and  Senator Bob Casey (D-PA) and Congresswoman Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-WA) will address the audience.

The first panel of the day will feature representatives from Sprint, Comcast NBCUniversal, Bank of America, and United Technologies Corporation. This panel will discuss the evolution of technology and its significance on accessibility of both physical spaces and websites.

Shortly after, executives from Bender Consulting Services, Wells Fargo, EY, and Accenture will give expert advice on supply chain. They will address the concerns associated with finding and tracking disability-owned businesses outside of the U.S. and what companies can do to further diversify their supply chains.

The summit will conclude with an insightful panel on regulations for hiring on a global level. Representatives from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, IBM, Facebook, 3M, and UPS will offer their perspective on what is happening in countries such as Brazil, Japan, the UK and India and how companies are working to make their workforces more inclusive of people with disabilities.
