Expanded Accessibility Services for Deaf and Hard of Hearing Attendees
This year, Disability:IN is proud to pilot two expanded accessibility services for Deaf and hard of hearing attendees who use American Sign Language (ASL) As part of this pilot initiative, Disability: IN is gathering insights to help evaluate potential future use of these services. While we are excited to explore these expanded options during this year’s conference, please note that they are not guaranteed in future years. These services include:
- On-Demand Video Remote Interpreting (VRI)
Attendees can access a live ASL interpreter anytime during conference hours by scanning a QR code posted throughout the venue—no app downloads or log-ins required. Simply use your own device to connect. Where it’s available: QR code signage will be placed in key areas including registration, front desk, conference hallways, networking spaces, break areas, the DOBE Lounge, and NEXTGen Lounge. Please note: VRI is available for conference-related communication only. Calls made for personal or nonconference use (e.g., from hotel rooms, bars, restaurants, or unrelated events) may be disconnected. - ASL Attendee Virtual Support Desk
Need help or have a question during the conference? Deaf and hard of hearing ASL users can connect directly with a trained, Deaf support team member by scanning a QR code. No need to visit a help desk in person or write back and forth—get real-time support in ASL from anywhere in the conference venue on all conference related needs.
What we can help with:
- Interpreter schedules and advance requests (Who is interpreting?)
- Sessions/Locations (What/When/Where is this session?)
- Conference app and schedule assistance (FAQ’s)
- Providing feedback (How is your experience?)
- And more!
